WNUC has a heart for the individual creative story. In whatever form or style those stories take, we respect our community and their right to express voice. For so long, we have been the victims of others coming into our City and creating the narrative (telling our story). Often, they have painted us how they wanted. They focused on our blight, but not our courage. They focused on our decline, but not our vision for our future. They focused on our bankruptcy, but not the villains in the closet. Often we've been described as a blank canvas, or an empty slate. We have a history and a future. Neither of which can be ignored or considered blank. We have suffered death by a thousand cuts, but we remain. We are the heroes in a David and Goliath story in which David has not yet come out on top. We honor those who are genuinely made in Detroit and those who are using this space to share with you what that means to them.
